This one was slightly more realistic in that sense. Other shows always showed the kids at school with two parents and good grades. I think what I liked this one the most out of the 90's shows was because it was somewhat on its own. I would pick watching an episode of this for the fifth time than a Hey Arnold for the first time (although I did enjoy that show too). Every day I would flip through channels and if I saw this show was on, nothing else mattered. The role of Sam was read by Sam Saletta, Mike Lane, Gary LeRoi Gray, and Sean Marquette at different times.Whenever I look up old 90's shows on youtube, I always seem to find each one mention Rocket Power and it brings back some great memories. Sam's the only member of the friend group to be an only child. After his home state was changed to Kansas during development of the series, the "N" remained on his short. Although it could be argued to come from “Nerd”. This is the reason why Sam wears a shirt with a big "N" on it the "N" stands for New York. Originally, the Dullards were to be from New York state instead of Kansas.Sam loves to build things particularly model cars which helps him bond with his father and Merv Stimpleton. However, he did accidentally publish an article about Otto without proofreading it. He also brought Reggie's Zine and Twister's videos to a whole new level. Sam has the ability to stop any object in any game with perfection. The rest of the time Sam and Reggie are very close and team up with each other against Otto and Twister. Even his mother cheered when Sam improved in sports. In a quest to be more athletic and confident, he thinks he should try to be more extreme as a way to conquer all his fears. ![]() His role is also the average kid to encourage kids to be more active. However, he is no where near the authoritarian that Reggie is. Sam is a straight man of the four friends. He wears thick rectangle glasses and bleach blonde hair and baggy clothes. Sam is a heavy weight, who takes the various challenges of extreme sports. ![]() In California, away from the prairies and exposed to the salty air coming from the sea, Sam would probably be more protected from his allergies and his asthma, though it was shown in at least one episode ("Big Air") that his condition could still get out of control. Over the years, some fans offered the theory that the move might have had to do with Sam's asthma and allergies living in a state where every year the boy would have been exposed to a lot of pollen, his condition would have worsened periodically, which would have a negative impact on his quality of life. It was never explained why the Dullards moved from Kansas to Ocean Shores. He is rarely seen without his trusty laptop computer, which he carries along everywhere he goes. He is very good at math and science, and is also a very literate computer user who has developed applications. He is the voice of conscience and common sense for the group his fears and his intelligent analysis usually keep the other kids out of serious danger. A very smart and intelligent kid, Sam is the same age as Otto and Twister, but was promoted one grade up at school (his mom's idea) and is in Reggie's class.
